About DR. AISHA PANDOR

Meet Dr. Aisha Pandor, an award-winning scientist with a PHD in Human Genetics, Co-founder and CEO of SweepSouth, Africa’s first and largest online end to-end platform for booking, managing and paying for home services. Launched in June 2014, SweepSouth currently operates in 4 countries – South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt, connecting unemployed and underemployed home service workers with homeowners. With over 1.5 million bookings, employing over a million women, SweepSouth aims to give back precious hours to spend on what really matters to you!
Pandor is widely acknowledged for her start-up’s success in pioneering social reform in African Innovation and has been recognized for the following:
- Placed second in the 2017 FNB Business Innovation Awards held in partnership with Endeavor South Africa.
- Won the SiMODiSA Start-up SA pitching prize and later became the first South African start-up to be accepted into the prestigious 500 Start-ups accelerator based in Silicon Valley in San Francisco.
- Awarded the Price Check eCommerce Female Entrepreneur of the year award and Black Entrepreneur of the year award for 2016.
- Recognized by the World Economic Forum as one of 2017’s 6 African female breakthrough innovators for her work in creating work opportunities and improving access to technology via SweepSouth.
- Forbes Woman Africa Award for Technology and Innovation in 2020.
Aisha has also acted as a tech start-up pitching coach and mentor for SeedStars, serves as a board member for the Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative, and as Chairperson of BioCiti, which incubates and accelerates biotechnology start-up businesses. When she’s not being a global disruptor, Aisha is a proud wife, Mother & vegetarian.

An OYW Ambassador, Brightest Young Minds Alumni, Queen’s Young Leader and Mail & Guardian top 200 young South Africans. Mangi wanted to create an opportunity for South African entrepreneurs, disruptors and up and coming leaders to learn from the best in business in the 21st century.
